‘Kites’ to fly on May 14
Finally, after a series of postponements, the release date of Hrithik Roshan’s much awaited film Kites is confirmed. The film is going to have a worldwide release on May 14th, this year.
Initially, Kites was scheduled for release during Diwali 2009. Then it was shifted for the Christmas of 2009. The makers then planned to release the film on January 15, 2010, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of Hrithik Roshan’s debut film Kaho Naa… Pyar Hai. Later the film was postponed for release during the summer vacations in April.
Kites, directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Rakesh Roshan, has Mexican Actress Barbara Mori and Kangana Ranaut as Hrithik Roshan’s heroines. The film, an intercultural love story, will be released in both Hindi and English versions. Hollywood director Brett Ratner of the Rush Hour series has been roped in to make the English version of Kites, appealing for the Western audiences.
Kites will have to face competition from two other biggies that will be released in the succeeding weekends. While Sajid Khan’s Akshay Kumar starrer Housefull is slated for release on May 20th, Prakash Jha’s political thriller Rajneeti starring Ajay Devgan, Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor will be released on May 28th.
