Ishqiya

Ishqiya is a crime-romantic-thriller directed by debutant Abhishek Chaubhey. The film stars Vidya Balan, Arshad Warsi and Naseeruddin Shah in lead roles.

Ishqiya set in a rural landscape in eastern Uttar Pradesh is a tale of romance between individuals caught in a web of crime, suspense, passion and deceit. Two thieves, Khalujan (Naseeruddin Shah) and Babban (Arshad Warsi), who are on the run from their boss, Mushtaq (Salman Shahid) seek refuge with an old friend but instead meet his widow, Krishna (Vidya Balan). As they spend time with her, both gets attracted to her, Khalu with his tinted vision of old-fashioned love and Babban with his lustful eye. But the threat of impending death forces them to take a path of violence and betrayal.

Ishqiya is produced by Raman Maroo and Vishal Bharadwaj under the banners of Shemaroo Entertainment and Vishal Bhardwaj Pictures Pvt Ltd. Story and Screenplay are by Vishal Bhardwaj, Sabrina Dhawan and Abhishek Chaubhey. Vishal Bhardwaj has scored the music while lyrics are by Gulzar. Cinematography is by Mohana Krishna.

Ishqiya, distributed by Shemaroo Entertainment, is scheduled for release on January 29, 2010.
