Kurbaan, Qurbaan

Kurbaan is a romantic thriller directed by writer-turned-director Rensil D'Silva. Real life couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor play the lead roles in the film that also has Vivek Oberoi playing an important role.

Kurbaan is set against the backdrop of global terrorism. Avantika Ahuja (Kareena Kapoor), who lives in the US returns to Delhi after her father suffered a cardiac arrest. In Delhi, she meets Ehsaan (Saif Ali Khan), a Delhi University professor and falls in love with him. After marriage both move to the US.

Only after reaching the US, Avantika finds out that Ehsaan is actually a terrorist and she was a pawn in Ehsaan's game. Ehsaan keeps her under house arrest. One day she finds out that Ehsaan and his men are planning to hijack a flight and one of the passengers on that flight is Riyaaz (Vivek Oberoi), a journalist.

The film will see the lead pair of Saif and Kareena in one of the steamiest scenes ever in Bollywood. Om Puri, Kirron Kher and Dia Mirza play the other significant roles in the film.

Rensil D'Silva is making his directorial debut with Kurbaan. As a writer he has films like 'Aks' and 'Rang De Basanti' to his credit.

Kurbaan is produced by Karan Johar and Hiroo Johar under the banner of Dharma Productions. Karan Johar has co-written the story of the film along with Rensil D'Silva. Screenplay of the film is by Rensil D'Silva. Salim-Sulaiman has scored the music for the film. Hemant Chaturvedi is the cinematographer.

Kurbaan, scheduled for release on November 20, 2009 will be distributed by UTV Motion Pictures.
