Wake Up Sid

Wake Up Sid is a romantic comedy starring Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen Sharma. The film is directed by Ayaan Mukherjee who is making his debut.

Wake Up Sid tells the story of Sidharth Mehra aka Sid (Ranbir Kapoor) who is a lazy, unmotivated guy from Mumbai. His world is breezy, carefree, and without any true responsibilities. He lives with his father Ram Mehra (Anupam Kher) who owns a company that manufactures bathroom fittings and mother Sarita Mehra (Supriya Pathak).

Sid has just finished his college and has no ideas of what to do next. So he just spends time by hanging with his buddies, watching TV, eating, sleeping, dreaming... His best friends are Rishi (Namit Das) and Laxmi (Shikha Talsania). Despite his laziness, Sid is an honest boy; sweet, funny, and above all, a good friend.

Meanwhile Aisha Bannerjee (Konkona Sen Sharma) comes to Mumbai from Kolkata. She is an aspiring writer and has come to Mumbai to fulfill her dream of becoming a writer for the urban magazine called Mumbai Beat. Aisha is creative, ambitious, focused, driven, brave and is everything what Sid is not.

Despite their contrasting personalities, Sid becomes Aisha's first friend in the city. Slowly, the matured ladies presence starts to bring a change in the life of the unmotivated Sid. A series of circumstances and events compel him to take stock of his life and take a hard look at himself. How his life undergoes a change from there forms the rest of the story.

Wake Up Sid is produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and will be distributed by UTV Motion Pictures. Story and screenplay are by the director himself while dialogues are by Niranjan Iyengar. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy has scored the music and Javed Akhtar has penned the lyrics. Anil Mehta is the cinematographer.

Wake Up Sid is slated for an October 2, 2009 release.
