We Are Family

Karan Johar, under his banner of Dharma Productions, is coming up with yet another family drama! Titled We Are Family, the film is directed by debutant Siddharth P. Malhotra. The film is an official remake of the 1998 American film Stepmom. Kajol, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal reprises the roles played by Susan Sarandon, Julia Roberts and Ed Harris in the original.

We Are Family tells the story of a home run by two women who can't stand each other! Maya, played by Kajol, is divorced from her husband Aman, played by Arjun Rampal. She has a daughter and a son with him.

Meanwhile Aman's second wife, played by Kareena Kapoor steps into the family and tries to make the children comfortable and happy around her. But as she is not ready to give up her career for the children, Maya is not ready to accept her as the stepmother of her children. This leads to a conflict between the two women. But as Maya is diagnosed with Cancer, everybody is forced to settle their differences.

Music of We Are Family has been scored by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. Lyrics are penned by Irshad Kamil and Anvita Dutt Guptan. Dialogues are by Niranjan Iyengar.

Distributed by UTV Motion Pictures, We Are Family is expected to hit theaters in India on September 2, 2010. The film was initially scheduled for release on September 10, 2010 but was preponed by one week to avoid clash with the Salman Khan starrer Dabangg.
