Grandmaster

Grandmaster is the new film from the combination of Mohanlal and director B. Unnikrishnan, whose previous outing together was the superhit Madambi in 2008. The film is scripted as well as directed by B. Unnikrishnan.

Grandmaster is yet another police story from the director. Mohanlal plays the role of Chandrashekhar, an IPS official who is a divorcee. He prefers to live quietly and not to take unnecessary responsibilities. But due to certain incidents he is forced to take up responsibilities and fight against the unlawful elements of the society. He proceeds forward, anticipating the moves by his opponents well in advance, like a grandmaster. But one mistake from his side changes his life forever!

Priyamani is the female lead of Grandmaster. She plays a lawyer who is the ex-wife of Chandrashekhar (Mohanlal). Grandmaster is Priyamani's first film with Mohanlal.

Narain and Roma are playing important supporting roles in the film. Rest of the cast includes Anoop Menon, Jagathy Sreekumar, Mithra Kurian, Siddique, Saikumar, Sampath Raj and Babu Antony.

Grandmaster is produced by Ronnie Screwvala under the banner of UTV Motion Pictures. The film marks the production debut of UTV Motion Pictures in Malayalam. Deepak Dev has composed the music for the film.

Grandmaster is scheduled for release on May 3, 2012.
