Yugapurushan

Yugapurushan is a 2010 film that revolves around the life and teachings of Sree Narayana Guru, the great social reformer from Kerala. Written and directed by R.Sukumaran of Paadamudra and Raajashilpi fame, the film features Thalaivasal Vijay as the lead character of Sree Narayana Guru. The film has an ensemble cast comprising of superstar Mammootty, Babu Antony, Kalabhavan Mani, Jagathy Sreekumar, Saikumar, Devan, Siddique and Navya Nair.

Yugapurushan tells the life and times of Guru (1855–1928), fondly known as Gurudevan, who sowed the seeds of change in the cast ridden society of Kerala. The film gives emphasis on Guru's thoughts and teachings, than to create another biography. Yugapurushan will also shed light on various social movements of the time including Aruvikkara movement and Vaikom Satyagraha.

Mammootty plays the role of K.C.Kuttan, a revolutionary firebrand leader who lived for the putting the words of Sree Narayana Guru into action. Babu Antony will come up as Ayyankali, the Harijan leader from the state. The movie also presents historic personalities of the time including Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindra Nath Tagore, Chattambi Swamikal, Kumaranasan, T K Madhavan, Dr. Palpu, C V Kunjuraman, Sahodaran Ayyappan and Mannathu Padmanabhan.

Yugapurushan is produced by A V Anoop. Mohan Sithara has composed music for the lyrics of Kaithapuram Damodaran Namboothiri. Ramachandra Babu handles the camera for the movie.

Yugapurushan is expected to hit the theaters in February 2010.
